Project Deck
Privacy Policy
Version 2026-10-09 · Effective October 9, 2026. This Policy explains how Project Deck handles personal information when you use projectdeck.net and the Project Deck marketplace.
Archived published Policy — not the current version.
1. Who is responsible for your information
Project Deck is responsible for personal information under its control. The designated privacy contact for the Service is the Project Deck Privacy Officer. Privacy questions, access requests or complaints can be sent to privacy@projectdeck.net.
2. Information we collect
Project Deck may collect account and contact information such as your name, email address, phone number, city and province; customer job information including descriptions, photos, approximate location and exact job address; contractor business information, services, portfolio content and credentials you choose to provide; quotes, project status, messages, reviews and feedback; and technical or security information such as device, browser, session, diagnostic and basic analytics data needed to operate and protect the Service.
3. Why we collect and use information
We use personal information to create and secure accounts, operate customer and contractor profiles, publish and match jobs, deliver quotes and messages, manage hiring and project status, display reviews, provide notifications, administer the open beta, respond to support requests, prevent abuse, investigate security issues, comply with law and improve reliability and usability.
4. Exact addresses and private job details
A customer's exact job address is treated as private job information and is not shown on the public job listing. It may be disclosed to the contractor the customer hires for that job because the contractor needs the location to perform the project. Customers should not include an exact street address or other unnecessary sensitive information in public job titles, descriptions or photos.
5. Public marketplace information
Contractor storefront information intended for public display may include business name, profile or logo image, city and province, service categories, portfolio content, business description, ratings and reviews. Customer private contact details and exact job addresses are not public storefront information.
6. Messages, quotes and project records
Quotes, messages and project records are available only to users who are authorized for the relevant marketplace interaction, subject to Project Deck's access controls. Project Deck administrators may access records when reasonably necessary for support, safety, security, moderation, legal compliance or dispute investigation.
7. Consent and choices
Project Deck seeks meaningful consent for the collection, use and disclosure of personal information where required. Some processing is necessary to provide features you request. Where information is optional or used for a separate purpose, Project Deck will provide an appropriate choice. You may withdraw consent where the law allows, although doing so may prevent Project Deck from providing features that depend on that information.
8. Marketing communications
Creating a Project Deck account is not treated as blanket consent to promotional email or text messages. If Project Deck sends commercial electronic messages that require consent, it will obtain or rely on a form of consent permitted by law and will provide the required sender information and an unsubscribe mechanism. Service, security and account messages may still be sent when needed to operate your account or requested transactions.
9. Service providers and processing
Project Deck uses service providers for functions such as cloud hosting, database services, authentication, file storage, email delivery, analytics and error monitoring. These providers process information only to support the services they provide to Project Deck, subject to applicable contractual, technical and legal safeguards. Google Analytics is optional and loads only after you select Allow analytics. If enabled, it may collect browser, device and website-usage information, including the pages you visit, to help us understand traffic and improve the Service. We do not intentionally send job descriptions, exact addresses or message contents as analytics events. You may decline or change your choice through Privacy choices in the site footer.
10. Processing outside Ontario or Canada
Some service providers may process or store information outside Ontario or Canada. When information is processed in another jurisdiction, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction. Project Deck remains responsible for personal information under its control and uses contractual or other measures appropriate to the circumstances.
11. Retention
Project Deck retains personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including account operation, marketplace records, security, fraud prevention, dispute handling, legal obligations and legitimate business records. Information may remain for a limited period in backups after deletion from active systems.
12. Security safeguards
Project Deck uses administrative, technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including authentication, authorization controls, restricted database access and controlled file access. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so users should also protect their credentials and avoid uploading information that is not necessary for a project.
13. Privacy and security incidents
Project Deck investigates suspected privacy and security incidents and will meet applicable breach-recording, notification and reporting obligations where required by law.
14. Access, correction and deletion requests
You may request access to personal information Project Deck holds about you and ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, subject to legal exceptions. You may also ask about deletion or account closure. Certain records may need to be retained for legal, security, fraud-prevention or dispute purposes.
15. Children
Project Deck is intended for adults who can enter into binding marketplace agreements. The Service is not directed to children, and Project Deck does not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children for marketplace use.
16. Changes to this Policy
Project Deck may update this Privacy Policy as the Service changes. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or another appropriate channel, and additional consent will be obtained where required.
17. Contact and complaints
Contact the Project Deck Privacy Officer at privacy@projectdeck.net with privacy questions, requests or complaints. Project Deck will review privacy concerns and respond in accordance with applicable law.
